MediaPost’s Marketing DailyThe brand that revolutionized the way we look at ice cream celebrates two decades in May. It will offer customers a free cup of ice cream beads on Tuesday.

Dippin’ Dots has produced a Birthday Cake flavor especially for the occasion.

There are more than 300 Dippin’ Dots franchised locations nationwide. The ice cream is also available at thousands of places like theme parks, stadiums, fairs and festivals nationwide. Dippin’ Dots are also sold in 13 international markets.

YSYL: WOW…it’s really been 20 years?

Big deal. What I want to know is how exactly did they “revolutionize the way we look at ice cream”? I absolutely LOVE ice cream and have been eating it AND loving it most likely since the founders of Dippin’ Dots were knee high dots to a worm.

And I gotta tell ya – dippin dots ain’t no ice cream!!!

I might have to give them kudos tho on the marketing strategy. Only sell the ice cream wannabe dots in locations where people spend money on E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G! When you’re at a theme park, stadium, fair or festival you go with a FAT wallet and you come home with a skinny wallet. You buy garbage that you never buy anywhere else and you buy…LOTS of it! Money is never an issue and my guess, if you like dippin’ dots, is you buy them every time you can.

So…not a bad marketing strategy.
